Pkl DC holds meeting on drug menace
Panchkula: Deputy commissioner (DC) Dr Priyanka Soni on Thursday chaired a district-level committee meeting of the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) to address growing concerns of drug abuse and illicit narcotic trade in the district. The meeting was attended by officials from the police, education, health and other departments.DC Dr Priyanka Soni emphasised the importance of sustained awareness campaigns and outreach programmes to combat drug abuse. She also instructed stakeholders to organise more drives in educational institutions such as schools and colleges. The DC underlined the importance of targeting schools and the younger population and reviewed reports from various departments about the measures undertaken to curb drug menace in the district.During the meeting, various issues related to drug addiction, areas of concern and hotspots of drug use were discussed. The committee also reviewed the progress made on the directives issued during the previous NCORD meeting. Officials said that the police department had attached properties of individuals involved in drug trafficking and similar drives would be conducted in future. The district administration remains committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure a drug-free and safe environment for residents. tnn
