Pb reports 47 fresh farm fire cases
Bathinda: Punjab reported 47 farm fire cases on Thursday, taking the count to 9,615. Ferozepur turned out to be worst affected district with maximum 909 crop residue burning cases till May 21.As per the Punjab Pollution Control Board action taken report dashboard, 767 FIRs have been filed in Punjab by the evening of May 20. Out of these 767 FIRs, the maximum 208 FIRs have been filed in Moga district. On Thursday, Madhya Pradesh reported 111 farm fire cases, Uttar Pradesh 41 and Haryana 9. As per ‘Consortium for research on agroecosystem monitoring and modeling from space' (CREAMS), who records the stubble burning cases across the country twice in the year, MP has reported over 50% of the crop residue burning cases in the last five years as out of the total 265065 cases reported from 2022 to May 21, 2026, the 132645 have been reported from MP followed by 61514 from UP, 57592 from Punjab, 13134 from Haryana and 180 from Delhi.Of the total environmental compensation Rs 7,80,000 has been realized. Warning/show cause notices have been issued to 130 nodal/supervisory officers. tnn
