Panjab University hikes late admission fee for PG courses

Panjab University

(PU) has increase the

late admission fee

for post-graduation courses by 100 per cent in cases of permission of the

department chairperson

and by 25% in cases of permission of the vice-chancellor for the 2020-21

academic session

Details of the revised fee with the academic calendar for post-graduation courses were shared with departments and colleges on Tuesday. Sources said members of the

fee committee

were clueless about the hike as the proposal was not tabled in its meeting. The vicechancellor gave the nod without securing the syndicate approval, they said.

The late fee with the permission of the college principal will be Rs 1,000 instead of the old Rs 540, and Rs 3,000 instead of Rs 2,640 in the last session with the permission of the VC, according to the decision.

Senior officials in PU said college principals were inquiring from authorities that how and when this proposal was tabled and approved in the committee. Besides, the academic calendar was also issued for the post-graduate courses of arts, science, commerce and education affiliated colleges of PU.
