Op Aakraman: Cops crackdown on narcotic networks across Jind
Jind: In one of the biggest anti-drug drives in recent months, the Jind police carried out a coordinated operation – Operation Aakraman – on Saturday, deploying nearly 400 police personnel across five identified drug-sensitive locations in the district.Addressing the mediapersons, deputy superintendent of police Kamaldeep Rana said the operation was conducted under the supervision of superintendent of police Kuldeep Singh as part of an intensified campaign against narcotics networks.
Simultaneous raids were conducted across the district, with police teams launching search operations in Lohchab, Aftabgarh, Dera Sacha Singh, Sandil villages and Chamela Colony in Narwana town, all identified as vulnerable pockets. In Narwana's Chamela Colony, teams from Sadar Narwana police station, Garhi police station and CIA Narwana carried out door-to-door verification and searches under the leadership of DSP Rana.Meanwhile, in the Safidon subdivision, DSP Gaurav Sharma supervised multiple teams, including SHO Sadar Safidon Rajesh Sharma and Alewa police, to conduct structured search operations.During the drive, police seized two laptops, a Swift Dzire car and six motorcycles found in suspicious condition. Officials said verification of ownership and possible criminal links was underway. In a parallel action, the electricity department issued 10 challans in Chamela Colony for alleged power theft, imposing penalties worth nearly Rs 3 lakh. The operation also involved the dog squad and saw logistical coordination between multiple departments, reflecting, what the police described as, "multi-agency enforcement model".DSP Rana warned drug traffickers of strict consequences, stating that investigations into illegally acquired properties and unauthorised constructions linked to the narcotics trade were ongoing. He said several accused were already booked under the PIT NDPS Act, and further preventive detention and property attachment proceedings were being pursued.SP Kuldeep Singh appealed to residents to report drug-related activities, assuring confidentiality of informants. With ‘Operation Aakraman', Jind police signalled a tougher enforcement stance, aiming not only at street-level peddlers but also at dismantling the financial backbone of the narcotics network in the district, he added.MSID:: 128647122 413 |
