Amritsar: Former MLA
Navjot Kaur Sidhu on Tuesday hinted at a fresh political move, suggesting the launch of a new outfit through a social media post.
In the post, the wife of former Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu said a group of like-minded individuals had come together to serve the country selflessly and restore Punjab's "lost glory", though she did not reveal who they were. Kaur also shared a photograph of herself seated before a ‘Bharatiya Rashtrawadi Party' poster.
She framed the proposed platform around justice, transparency and people-centric governance, while invoking spiritual values and "higher consciousness" in public life.
The development is significant given her recent political trajectory. Kaur, who had joined Congress earlier, was suspended from the party over her alleged controversial remarks.
Her subsequent praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Nitin Gadkari had fuelled speculation about a possible move to the BJP. However, with no formal induction materialising, she appears to be charting an independent course.
Kaur had earlier announced her intention to contest independently from Amritsar East, the seat she had previously represented as MLA.
However, her latest post leaves several questions unanswered, including the structure of the proposed outfit, its leadership and the role of her husband.
