No change in Punjab Congress leadership, says Baghel

Chandigarh: With assembly elections approaching, Congress has ruled out any change in its Punjab leadership, with AICC in-charge for the state Bhupesh Baghel expressing satisfaction over the functioning of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and leader of opposition Partap Singh Bajwa.Baghel's statement came after a two-day meeting with Punjab Congress leaders in Delhi who included Bajwa and Warring, where the party's organisational strategy and roadmap for the coming months were discussed. He said the meetings were "very constructive" and focused on strengthening the party at the grassroots. A monthly calendar of activities has been prepared, outlining programmes to be carried out across the state, he said.As part of the organisational push, Baghel said training sessions for district presidents will be held from April 21 to 30. He added senior leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, are expected to attend these sessions. Field-level work will begin in May, he said.On ticket allocation, Baghel said surveys are being conducted and candidates will be selected based on "winnability". He explained that multiple methods were being used, including feedback from party workers, assessment of ground conditions and public expectations. Established leaders will be assessed alongside other aspirants, and the final feedback will be shared with the party high command.Addressing speculation about internal differences, Baghel asserted that there is no infighting within the Punjab Congress. Targeting rival parties, Baghel said the BJP lacked a strong leadership in Punjab, while there were internal issues in the Aam Aadmi Party. "All Delhi leaders are against CM Bhagwant Mann in the Aam Aadmi Party," he said.
