Neighbourhood clash in Zirakpur: 3 brothers booked for attempt to murder

Mohali: A minor neighbourhood dispute spiralled into a violent attack in Zirakpur’s Baltana, with police booking three brothers for attempt to murder after they allegedly assaulted an entire family with sharp weapons and bats.

The incident, captured on CCTV, took place in Vaishali Enclave Phase-2, where the accused allegedly chased the victims into their home and attacked them.

According to a complaint by Vinay Bhatt, a software engineer, the altercation began around 10.30 pm on May 23 when a motorcycle from the accused’s house allegedly struck his mother, Jayamala Bhatt. When Vinay sought an apology, the situation escalated.

Police said the accused called in others, brought out weapons from a vehicle and launched an attack. As the victims rushed indoors, the assailants allegedly followed them, hurled bricks, attempted to break open the gate and continued the assault.

Vinay’s younger brother, Vineet Bhatt, was injured after being attacked with a baseball bat and a gandasa. The accused also allegedly issued threats and damaged property.

Based on the complaint and CCTV footage, police have registered a case under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against three sons of Hira Lal Pathak. Further investigation is under way.
