MoS Satish Dubey hails Budget, slams opposition ‘disruptions’
Hisar: Union minister of state Satish Dubey on Sunday defended the Union Budget as a "pro-people" blueprint for development while launching a blistering attack on the Congress party for what he termed unconstitutional conduct in Parliament.
Speaking at the BJP office in Hisar, Dubey accused opposition leaders, Rahul Gandhi specifically, of prioritising political theatre over democratic debate. "The opposition is more interested in creating disruptions than participating in meaningful debate," Dubey said. "In a democracy, does only the son of a king have the right to progress, and not the son of a poor man?"
Rebuttal to Election Concerns
The minister addressed recent objections raised by West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee regarding the special intensive revision (SIR) of voter lists. Dubey dismissed the concerns about voter list revision, EVM credibility, and institutional independence as a recurring tactic used by opposition parties.
Dubey has noted that the voter-list revision process is a standard procedure and not a new initiative. He has alleged that the opposition only questions electronic voting machines (EVMs) when they lose, accepting the results without complaint when they win. Reaffirming the govt's stance, he has stated that the Election Commission remains an independent constitutional body free from federal interference. Dubey further accused the West Bengal govt of politicising the issue of undocumented immigrants to secure a specific vote base.
Economic Reforms and Rural Growth
Highlighting the "pro-people" nature of the Union Budget, Dubey pointed to several key agricultural and digital initiatives aimed at strengthening the rural economy. He described Digital Kisan and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi as programmes designed to integrate technology with farming and provide direct financial support.
He mentioned the success in achieving national self-sufficiency in pulse production. About MNREGA enhancements, he said an increase in working days and the inclusion of permanent construction projects will improve rural infrastructure.
The 'Digital India' Shift
Dubey took a historical swipe at the previous Congress-led administrations, citing a famous remark by late former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi that only a fraction of central funds reached the intended beneficiaries. He claimed the current govt had eradicated this systemic leakage through the Jan Dhan Yojana and Digital India frameworks. "The Modi govt has changed this system entirely," Dubey said. "Through direct benefit transfers, subsidies now reach the bank accounts of the poor without any middleman."
