Chandigarh: A fraudster posed as a friend of the grandson of an elderly man over phone to allegedly dupe him of Rs 1.10 lakh after claiming to be needing the money to release his grandson from police custody in Australia in a case of online fraud. Sector 44 resident Inderpal Singh (76) received a call on August 26, with the fraudster claiming three of them, including the grandson of the victim, got involved in a brawl in a club in Australia. Singh said the accused claimed 6,000 Australian dollars were required for the bail of his grandson.
