Sonipat: In a chilling incident, the Sonipat police have arrested a man for allegedly murdering a woman — reported to be his mother — by bludgeoning her with a brick. The accused was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
According to police officials, the case dates back to April 16, when Satpal, a resident of Sisana village, approached Kharkhoda police station with a complaint. He stated that upon reaching his farmland around 9 am near Phogat brick kiln on the Sisana-Silana road, he discovered the body of a woman lying in a pool of blood outside his field hut.
The victim sustained severe head injuries, and a brick was found lying nearby, suggesting it was used as the murder weapon. Satpal immediately informed his neighbour Anil, who alerted the police.
During the preliminary inquiry, two individuals present at the spot — identified as Toona and Sunny, residents of Muzaffarpur in Bihar — failed to provide satisfactory answers regarding the woman's death, raising suspicion.
Acting swiftly, a police team led by assistant sub-inspector Pradeep launched an investigation and apprehended the accused, Sunny, son of Ramroop alias Toona. Police confirmed that he was directly involved in the crime.
The accused was later produced before a court, which remanded him to judicial custody. Further investigation into the case is under way.
