Man gets 20-year jail in kidnapping, sexual assault case
Kurukshetra: A fast-track special court in Kurukshetra has sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh in a kidnapping and sexual assault case involving a minor girl under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.According to the Kurukshetra district attorney, a complaint was lodged at Ladwa police station on March 9, 2023. The complainant stated that his minor daughter went missing from home around 11 pm on March 8, 2023, without informing anyone.Police registered a missing person case and launched an investigation. During the probe, the minor girl was recovered and her statement was recorded before the court. She was also provided counselling through the district Child Welfare Committee. Based on her statement and counselling report, police added charges under Section 328 (causing hurt by poison, etc with intent to commit an offence) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the POCSO Act.On May 29, 2026, after regular hearings in the fast-track special court, the ADSJ convicted the accused, Rahul, on the basis of witness testimonies and evidence presented during trial.EndsMSID:: 131391412 413 |
