Man duped of Rs 25 lakh on promise of MBBS admission, 2 booked
Hisar: The police have registered a case of alleged fraud involving Rs 25 lakh after a man from Rakhi Khas village in the Narnaund area claimed he was duped on the promise of securing his daughter's admission to an MBBS course. The Narnaund police have booked two persons, including a counsellor, and initiated an investigation into the matter. According to the complaint filed by Dr Suresh Kumar, a resident of Rakhi Khas village, he approached Dr Kamni Aashri, described as a career counsellor based in Shri Dham Society, Sector 9, Jind, to secure admission for his daughter Kriti in an MBBS programme. Kamni allegedly promised admission to a medical college in Nepal, and quoted a total fee of Rs 60.51 lakh, including a service charge of Rs 5 lakh.
Dr Suresh Kumar alleged that he transferred Rs 10 lakh on June 30, 2025, and Rs 4.5 lakh on July 1, 2025, through RTGS, while the remaining amount was paid via online transactions, including Google Pay. In total, around Rs 25 lakh was allegedly paid to the accused. The family also handed over the student's original educational documents. The complainant claimed that the counsellor showed documents purportedly confirming seat booking and admission. However, upon enquiry, the Nepal-based college reportedly informed the family that no admission was granted. When contacted, the accused allegedly avoided giving a clear response and later admitted on Feb 9 that no admission was secured. Despite repeated demands, the money was not returned, the complainant alleged.Dr Suresh Kumar further stated that on Feb 11, when he called to seek a refund, Kamni Aashri allegedly handed the phone to a man identified as Naveen, who used abusive language and threatened to kill the family and abduct them from their home. Police said Naveen Sharma, a resident of Sulchani village, was also named in the FIR. Further investigation is underway. MSID: 128609371 413 |
