Man accused of killing elder brother over Rs 70k
Bathinda: A man reportedly killed his elder brother by ramming his tractor into the latter's bike, killing him on the spot and causing serious injuries to a domestic helper, at Badbar village in Barnala district on Thursday.Badbar village resident 48-year-old Manjinder Singh shared a boundary wall with his younger brother 43-year-old Sukhwinder Singh as they had adjoining houses after division of property. Sukhwinder owed Rs 70,000 to Manjinder Singh.As per Manjinder's wife Paramjit Kaur, her husband on Wednesday demanded the money, which Sukhwinder refused to pay and threatened to see him. On Thursday morning, when Manjinder, along with his domestic helper Surinder Singh, were going out on a motorcycle, she saw Sukhwinder following her husband on a tractor. The accused reportedly struck his tractor from the rear that hit her husband, who was riding pillion. Both Manjinder and Surinder fell down and Sukhwinder hit them again and fled from the scene. Both injured were taken to a civil hospital in Dhanaula, where Manjinder was declared dead.The deceased's son is in Canada.Barnala sub division DSP Satbir Singh said both brothers had a money dispute owing to which the younger killed the elder sibling. A case u/s 103(1) (murder) and 109 BNS (attempt to murder) has been registered against Sukhwinder Singh and efforts are being made to arrest him.
