Major fire in HP’s Una, 30 jhuggis gutted

Kullu: A major fire broke out in the Lalsingi area on the old Hoshiarpur Road in Una on Friday, gutting 30 jhuggis of migrant labourers. All household belongings of labourers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, including cash, clothes, ration and utensils, were destroyed in the blaze. According to the fire department, property loss has been estimated at around Rs 3 lakh. Firefighters battled the flames for nearly one and a half hours before bringing the situation under control. A total of nine fire tenders were deployed to contain the blaze. Fortunately, no loss of life or injuries was reported in the incident. The fire started in the afternoon and quickly spread to adjoining hutments due to strong winds, said a fire department official.
