AMRITSAR: They are leaving nothing to chance, besides making an impassioned plea to the electorate during the last hours ahead of the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha polls on Saturday.

While some LS candidates seek blessings of the Gods and Goddesses, there are those who try even godmen.
On the eve of the last phase, the candidates from different political parties held meetings with their leaders and workers, engaged with their supporters and spent the day encouraging people to exercise their right to vote while also offering prayers.
Tarsem Singh, father of Amritpal Singh, remained in his native village, Jallupur Khera, and issued an appeal to the supporters of Waris Punjan Dae head to exercise "restraint and cooperate with the polling staff".
Amritpal, who is contesting from the Khadoor Sahib LS constituency as an independent candidate, is currently lodged in Assam's Dibrugarh jail. "Everybody has the right to contest elections. I have appealed to all to maintain peace and help the polling staff and everyone," he said.
After the election campaign ended, BJP candidate from Amritsar Taranjeet Singh Sandhu paid obeisance at Gurdwara Shaheedan Sahib, Baba Deep Singh Ji and Durgaiana temple and prayed for peace and harmony among people. He also performed sewa (voluntary service). Aam Aadmi Party candidate Kuldep Singh Dhaliwal also went to Golden Temple to seek the blessing of the Almighty.
A series of meetings were reported from Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Khadoor Sahib parliamentary constituencies by the candidates of all the political parties.
Sources privy to one of the meetings held in Gurdaspur said that instructions were issued to the workers to stay in touch with fence-sitters and try to persuade them to vote for their party "under any circumstances."
"Nobody can even dream of losing the elections, so every trick in the box is being employed to gain the confidence of the voters even at the last minute," said the sources.
A trusted associate of a candidate, said that a godman from Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal has been called in to conduct a three-day special tantric puja from Saturday to Monday.
