Judicial custody extended till September 21

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh district court has extended

judicial custody

of Vikas Barala and his friend Ashish Kumar in the case pertaining to stalking and abduction of Varnika Kundu. Both were presented before the magistrate via video conferencing and from there the judicial custody of both were extended till September 21.

On August 5, a law student in Kurukshetra University Vikas Barala, son of BJP chief of Haryana Subhash Barala and his friend Ashish, a law graduate, had allegedly followed a bureaucrat’s daughter Varnika Kundu and tried to stop her car. The girl called police, which apprehended the boys. At the time of incident, they were found to be under the influence of liquor. Both were booked under Section 354 D (stalking) of the IPC and under the provisions of Motor Vehicle Act. However, two more sections for attempt to kidnapping were added and both were arrested.
