Jind man gets 20 yrs in jail for minor’s rape
Jind: A fast-track special POCSO court in Jind has sentenced a resident of Badhana village to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in connection with a sexual assault case involving a minor girl. The fast-track court also imposed a fine of Rs 70,000 on the convict. The conviction came following strong evidence and effective prosecution by the Jind police, officials said.The case was registered at the women police station in Nov 2024 after a complaint alleged that the accused had raped a minor girl and threatened to kill her and her family members. After investigation, police filed the chargesheet under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the spokesperson said.The court of additional sessions judge, heading the fast-track special court (POCSO), convicted the accused, awarding separate sentences and fines under different provisions. The court also ordered additional imprisonment in case of non-payment of the fine.
