CHANDIGARH: Senior Jat leader and president of Chandigarh Jat Sabha, Dr Mahender Singh Malik said on Saturday that that the jats have been facing discrimination in every field since long. Malik was addressing a function organized on 132th birthday of top Jat leader late Sir Chhotu Ram at Panchkula.
"Jats always made sacrifices to the country but they have just 2% share in the central government services," said Malik adding that the government should give reservation to the community members in central government jobs Malik said that Sir Chhotu Ram was source of inspiration for the farmers adding that he always fought for the upliftment of the farming community.

On the occasion, chief guest of the function, Abhay Singh Chautala said that if Haryana chief minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda is serious about the reservation to the Jats, then he should bring a bill in the state assembly in this regard.
"INLD legislators would support this proposal in the assembly," announced Chautala, who is senior leader of INLD. Presiding over the function, Haryana's Lok Pal and retired judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Pritam Pal Singh said that Sir Chhotu Ram made serious efforts to improve the education standard of farmers' children. Miss John Richanmor Gillmor and Krishna Chaudhary from Australia, Krishan Kadiyan from Hyderabad, SS Ahlawat from Meerut, Krishna Dahiya and Sukbir Singh Hooda from Haryana also addressed the function. On the occasion, Dhayan Chand Life Time Award winner, Om Prakash, International Volleyball champion, Sanjay Kumar and bronze medal winner in Asian Wrestling Sports championship, Ajay Punia were honoured with cash prizes and mementoes.
