, which was closed down over a year ago, will be back on the campus as a New Delhi-based company got it auctioned for Rs 1,03,000 on Wednesday.

An official of the university said the company would get the same infrastructure and if they want they could do some renovations after the permission of the authorities concerned as it is heritage building.

Sources said that the date of opening of the Indian Coffee House has not been fixed as it would be open for services after the campus reopens and students start coming in.

The coffee house was shut in July last year. Former dean student welfare Emanual Nahar had asked the previous owner of the coffee house to look for some alternative arrangements instead of shutting it. The contractor was asked to continue till an alternative arrangement was made, but he declined. During the meeting, the owner had expressed that he had already made up his mind to leave due to personal and family reasons.

Former dean student welfare Emanual Nahar, who intervened after the demand by the residents of the city and student bodies for not closing the coffee house, said he had made efforts that the old owner would continue, but he was reluctant on continuing the business as he was facing competition from shopkeepers, who served the same menu.
