Local cops on Friday evening arrested six persons in separate cases in different parts of Chandigarh and recovered

from them. According to cops, Karan Khan of Hallo Majra was arrested and 16 quarters of country liquor were recovered from his possession while Bunty of Phase-1 Ram Darbar, was held near Lali Park, Ramdarbar, with 25 quarters of country liquor.

Awareness drive on National Flag: Under the aegis of Haryana State Legal Services Authority (HLSA),

(DLSA) on Friday launched ‘Shaan-e-Tiranga', to create awareness among people about the National Flag, at district court, Sector 1. The project aims to inform people about the cloth, size and norms regarding the hoisting and display of flag.

Car stolen: Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Baltana, Mohali reported that unknown person stole his Honda City car carrying registration plate CH01AH-8673 from parking of DLF Building, IT Park, Manimajra on Friday evening. A case under section 379 (theft) of the IPC has been registered in IT park police station.

Bag missing: Madan Pal Munda, a resident of Yamuna Vihar, Delhi, reported that a bag containing cash Rs 4,000, debit card, and valuables was stolen from Khukrain Bhawan, Sector 35. A case has been registered.

Commerce fest held Post graduate department of Commerce, Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh, organized a Commerce fest "BIZ BASH 2017" on the college campus on January 21, 2017. The event started with lamp lighting ceremony by Col (retd) J S Bala, secretary SES, and college principal Dr Charanjeet Kaur Sohi.

Shishpal of Ramdarbar was arrested from near Hathi Park of Ramdarbar and 16 quarters of country liquor were recovered from his possession.

The other accused have been identified as Joginder Pal of Sector 37, Ishant of

DMC

and Mukesh Kumar of village Daria and 24 quarters each of country liquor were recovered from their possession.

A senior cop informed that special check posts and notifications has been given to all the police stations to keep a strict eye on illicit liquor in the city as elections are going on.

Separate cases have been registered against the accused under the Excise Act.
