CHANDIGARH: Cracking a whip on different

industries

who failed to submit tax related information with the income tax department,

sleuths conducted lengthy surveys at sanitary and

steel industry

at Phase 1 in Industrial Area on Monday. The surveys continued till reports were filed.

Sources said IT officials entered premises of a leading sanitary fittings manufacturer who is also the distributor to a number of imported sanitary wear brands. Dealers of steel and wires were also covered. The survey was carried out under Section 133A of the income tax act and the officials continued to go through the documents and books of account till late evening. The surveys were conducted in the background of the Income Declaration Scheme (IDS 2016) of the income tax department for which the last date is 30th September 2016.
