CHANDIGARH: Department of cultural affairs,
Haryana and Deed-ny Deedar presented a play named "
Hunn
mein Set Haan" at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16, Chandigarh.
The play "Hun mein set haan" is written by Veena Verma and directed by Baninderjit Singh Bunny.
The assistant director of this play was Vivek Roy Khanna. The play showcased the life of Punjabi youth who move out of their home to another country in search of destiny i.e. wealthy life, comfort and new opportunities for themselves. This play clearly describes circumstances and troubles faced by the people who are struggling for their bread and butter in foreign countries.
It also highlighted the mentality of parents who want to settle their children in foreign countries at any cost because they want to maintain their honour and respect in the society. The subject is well portrayed through Gagan's life who is the protagonist of the play. It told us how the principal, Pakhar singh , father of Gagan goes to
Canada
for a literary conference and is greatly influenced by life style and environment of the people there. Upon his return he is in high spirits. He further influences his family members and friends by telling them about the highlights of Canada.
His only wish was now to settle down in abroad by hook or cook. He sends his son abroad by taking heavy loans to make his future bright and to make family members also get a chance to go abroad. But soon he realized that it is a wonder of just nine days and Gagan faces difficult situations in foreign land. His emotions and feelings are clashed with the ego of his father.
