‘Humanitarian tragedy’: In Punjab assembly, AAP MLA condemns US-Israel attack on Iran
Chandigarh: The attack on Iran by the United States and Israel, in which Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Khomeini was killed, was condemned in the Punjab assembly on Friday.During the obituary references, AAP MLA Dr Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi raised the issue in the House and described the incident as a "humanitarian tragedy". He said that in the attack, more than 100 schoolgirls were killed, along with several doctors and patients in hospitals, and that Ayatollah Khomeini also lost his life.

"I condemn the act of the Trump administration and pay tribute to those who were killed," Sukhi said. He also urged speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan to pay tribute to the victims in the House, if possible.Meanwhile, the assembly also paid tributes to departed souls who passed away since the last session of the assembly.During the 12th Budget session of the 16th Punjab Vidhan Sabha, the house paid respects to the departed soul of Raghbir Singh, former minister of Punjab; Gurdeep Singh Bhaini, former MLA; Dalip Singh, freedom fighter; Jobanjeet Singh Sowar; Ashok Dhir, former Punseed chairman; Sandeep Galhotra, father-in-law of cabinet minister Aman Arora; Renu Gupta, wife of Punjab MLA Dr Ajay Gupta; Ram Krishan, father of Punjab MLA Dr Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi; Sukhwinder Kumar, brother of Punjab MLA Nachhatar Pal; journalist H K Dua; GL Kaul, former secretary, Punjab Vidhan Sabha; Punjabi poet Navrahi Ghugyanvi; and Raja Singh, founder of Indian television brand Texla.A 2-minute silence was observed in the memory of departed souls as a mark of respect during the obituary references.
