Hry plans ‘mushroom survey’

Chandigarh: In a first of its kind initiative, the Haryana forest department will conduct a “mushroom survey” in Yamunanagar’s Kalesar National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary on September 30. The outcome of the survey will help in formulating a strategy for the conservation of fungi, flora and fauna of the national park. This will also form the basis for observing the impact of climate change on the ecology of the region. The survey will be conducted under the guidance of principal chief conservator of forests and Dr N. S. K. Harsh, a renowned mycologist, in which the fungal and mushroom diversity of the park will be assessed. tnn
