Shimla: Shimla-headquartered Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVNL) chairman and managing director Bhupender Gupta stated on Wednesday that the firm had achieved the commercial operation date (COD) of the 1,000 megawatt (MW) Bikaner solar power project.
In a statement from Shimla, Gupta said the commissioning of this project contributed significantly towards the achievement of the central govt's target of 500 gigawatt (GW) of renewable energy capacity by 2030. This project, developed on 5,000 acres, is being implemented by SJVNL through its wholly owned subsidiary, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL).

This project will generate over 2,454 million units of electricity in its first year of operation and approximately 56,838 million units cumulatively over 25 years. The maximum usage charges have been fixed at Rs 2.57 per unit, thereby contributing to the availability of affordable green power to consumers.
