HP Congress chief issues stern warning to ministers over public spats

Shimla: Taking serious note of recent public statements by party functionaries that brought embarrassment to the party and the state govt, Himachal Pradesh Congress president Vinay Kumar issued a stern warning to ministers, MLAs, and office-bearers of boards and corporations of strict disciplinary action in future.In a letter issued on the directions of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), Kumar said any remarks that harm, embarrass, or undermine the party or the state govt will invite strict disciplinary action without prior notice, and no justification or clarification will be entertained.
Although the letter does not name leaders, it appears to refer to a recent controversy involving PWD minister Vikramaditya Singh, whose remarks questioned the integrity of IAS and IPS officers from Bihar and UP serving in Himachal Pradesh. His comments drew open criticism from at least four cabinet colleagues—Anirudh Singh, Jagat Singh Negi, Rohit Thakur, and Rajesh Dharmani—highlighting visible divisions within the state cabinet.The state Congress chief emphasised that the AICC took "strong and serious cognisance" of such indiscipline, reflecting the central leadership's displeasure. He underlined that the party will not tolerate airing of differences through the media, social media, or any public platform. Any violation of this directive would be met with immediate action, with no room for negotiation or explanation, he underlined.
