Honeypreet rues delay in verification of her phone numbers by jail authority

CHANDIGARH: Honeypreet Insan, the adopted daughter of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh on Wednesday accused the jail authorities in the verification of the two telephone numbers shared by her to interact with her parents.


Honeypreet aka Prianka Taneja shared this with the two member team of Haryana State Women Commission headed by Preeti Bhardwaj who conducted the surprise check on the premises of Ambala jail on Wednesday afternoon.

Other shortcomings related to the mantainence of jails and provisions for the women under trials and prisoners and their children too came to fore as the two members of the Commission had stayed there for over three hours.

"Her main grudge was of delay in the verification process. She also informed to have written this to concerned authorities through the lawyer. Other different kind of problems related to undertrials and prisoners have come to light. Some appear to be the policy matter which we shall take up with government. In some complaints we have asked the jail superintendent to set things in order," said Bhardwaj.

Namarata Gaur, who too accompanied Bhardwaj, denied as if Honeypreet Insan was given any VIP treatment in the jail. "Though she was given a separate cell. But it was just an ordinary cell like others. Rest, there was nothing of the kind which could suggest any preferential treatment to her," said Gaur.
