KARNAL: Local BJP leaders, who were earlier in other parties and had been opposing candidature of Manohar Lal Khattar from Karnal terming him as an outsider, have resorted to pleasing the chief minister by putting huge flex banners and signboards in the town in violation of rules.
Banners praising Khattar, and thanking the electorate for having elected for him from Karnal by a huge margin, have appeared at ever nook and corner of the town especially main markets and the national highway-1, which passes through the city.
Banners and flex boards carrying Khattar's photos are also put up on telephone and electricity polls.
When contacted, Karnal deputy commissioner Balraj Singh Mor stated that he would get the banners removed as no permission had been granted by the competent authority to any of the BJP leaders to put up the posters and flex boards.
Number of flexi boards has also gone up in the view of the public meeting of CM Khattar which is scheduled for Saturday. Local residents said sarcastically that people who had been showing black flags to Khattar when started his election campaign in Karnal were now praising him.
