Hisar doctor arrested in J&K investment fraud
Hisar: An MBBS doctor from Hisar was arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday over an alleged online investment fraud involving transactions of Rs 209 crore, with the total amount suspected to exceed Rs 400 crore.Ekant Yogdutt alias Dr Morphen, who was arrested at Indira Gandhi International Airport upon his arrival from China, is alleged to be the mastermind behind the racket. Police said nine persons had been arrested so far in connection with the scam in Ganderbal district.

The investigation began after a complaint was lodged by Firdous Ahmed Mir, a resident of Safapora. After the FIR at Ganderbal police station under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act, SSP Khalil Ahmed Poswal constituted a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the matter.According to investigators, Yogdutt learnt cyber fraud techniques while studying in the Philippines and later established a network that operated through local associates in Kashmir. The gang allegedly lured victims across the country by promising high returns on coin trading through fake websites such as PaisaVaultcom and various social media platforms, said Poswal.
