Haryana roadways workers union to protest on Tuesday, 4200 buses likely go off road
CHANDIGARH: As the roadways workers are in no mood to budge from their stand nearly 13 lakh passengers travelling on Haryana Roadways buses are likely to feel the heat after the union announced Chakka jam for Tuesday.
This will badly affect the passengers travelling between Chandigarh and New Delhi and Gurugram as the Roadways dominate this route.
Seeking government’s withdrawal of decision related to outsourcing of bus service and addition of private contractors, the Roadways workers have announced Chakka jam.
While Union members are making efforts for the success of the programm, the government on the other side has gone all out to ensure that passengers do not suffer.
The deputy commissioners and the SPs have been directed to ensure that law and order situation remains under control and buses run as per the schedule.
"We have tried our best to ensure that people do not suffer, but since government has already made up the mind to not withdraw its decision of hiring of private buses and outsourcing certain routes, we are forced to go on strike. Government is forcing the Haryana Roadways towards the bankruptcy," said Sarbat Singh Punia, the office bearer of the joint action committee.
