The department of Gandhian and Peace Studies, Panjab University, organized the interfaith and inter-religious prayer meeting via online platforms to celebrate
Gandhi Jayanti. This year the week-long celebrations took place on a web platform.
Besides prayers and bhajan to mindful meditation by Lama Yeshe, lessons on peace were delivered on the occasion. People from various faiths took part in the session ‘Peace Within, Peace Without’ and talked in detail about Baapu's teachings.
In the afternoon on October 2, the second online lecture event started in collaboration with the Panjab University's alumni association. There, Prof Suresh Misra talked about the topic 'Sustainable Lifestyle in a Pandemic World: A Gandhian Approach'.
The VC of PU Prof Raj Kumar highlighted the importance of the day by explaining the history of the Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bhadur Shastri and their contribution in the freedom struggle. On the occasion, the best mali (gardener) award for the year 2020 was given to Subedar Yadav. Later, results for on-the-spot slogan writing competition and poem recitation were announced.
