Hospital booked for negligence

In Ambala, Vij confirmed the Haryana health department had registered an FIR in the case. “The death was caused due to sheer medical negligence,” he said.

The hospital is accused of medical negligence that caused the death of a sevenyear-old girl suffering from dengue and for overcharging her family in September. The hospital has also been accused of overcharging Adya’s family as the final bill came to about Rs 16 lakh for 15-day treatment. The matter had come to light in mid-November after a family friend posted images of the itemised bills on the social media.

The 20-page bill included charges for 660 syringes and 2,700 gloves, and triggered outrage.

Vij had earlier written to the Haryana Urban Development Authority seeking the cancellation of the land lease of the hospital in Gurgaon. Adya’s father Jayant Singh had on Friday evening filed an 11-page complaint with the Gurgaon police, alleging his daughter had died because of “negligence” of the doctors and alleged the hospital had tried to “destroy evidence.”
