Punjab News Today Live Updates: Red Alert over in Ludhiana, sirens sounded in Ferozepur; IndiGo suspends flights until May 15
IndiGo Airlines has extended the suspension of its flights to several sensitive airports, including Chandigarh, across northern India until May 15, 2025, citing directives from regulatory authorities and ongoing security concerns. The Ludhiana administration has issued a red alert and urged all residents to remain indoors as a precautionary measure. Following a series of drone launched from Pakistan, Punjab and parts of Haryana remain on high alert. Jalandhar stayed on red alert through the night as multiple drones and unidentified objects were neutralised. A fresh alert was issued in both Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur on Saturday morning. Explosions were heard in Jalandhar, Amritsar and Gurdaspur, triggering panic and prompting widespread night blackouts. Armed drones were neutralised over Khasa Cantt, while one drone hit a home in Ferozepur, injuring three. Missile debris was found across Bathinda and Fazilka. Authorities have urged residents to stay indoors, suspend outdoor lighting, and comply with emergency protocols. Tourism and transport services have been disrupted, and the Ministry of Defence has condemned the attacks as a 'blatant violation of India’s sovereignty.'
