The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate on Tuesday framed criminal charges against five accused in the connection with the fake telephone exchange which was busted by CBI in March 2005.

CHANDIGARH: The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) on Tuesday framed criminal charges against five accused in the connection with the fake telephone exchange which was busted by CBI in March 2005. Accused Arul Raj, C K Prakash, Dhanraj, A Johan and another were presented before the court.
A team of EOW of CBI, Delhi, had busted the fake telephone exchange, which had caused a loss of about Rs 2 crore to the state exchequers.

CBI sources said the charges were framed under sections 420 (cheating) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC and under Indian Telegraph Act, 1985. CBI counsel P K Dogra said that according to the chargesheet, the three accused had come to the city in September 2005 and had rented a SCO in Sector 26. Later, two foreigners had installed the exchange.
