Fake doctor held for raping, blackmailing woman

Times News NetworkChandigarh: Police arrested a resident of Karnal for allegedly raping a woman and blackmailing her. The accused, who has studied up to Class X, allegedly lured the complainant, a 22-year-old woman from Manimajra, by posing as an MBBS doctor. The complainant said she came in contact with the accused, a 30-year-old from Karnal, on social media in 2025. He allegedly told the complainant that he was in the process of going abroad. When the woman expressed her wish to go abroad as well, the accused allegedly told her he would help her and took her documents. Over time, the accused gained her trust and called her to a hotel in Daria, Chandigarh. The complainant said when she arrived, he raped her and recorded an obscene video, which he repeatedly used to blackmail her. Eventually, the woman filed a police complaint.Police are investigating whether the accused targeted other women in a similar manner. They are also examining digital platforms and contacts he used.
