Chandigarh: Former deputy chief minister of Haryana,
Dushyant Chautala, on Saturday alleged that as part of a conspiracy, leaders of the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) are being targeted, and attempts are being made to intimidate them through the police for raising serious issues related to youth.
He alleged that during a protest by the student organisation Indian National Students Organisation (INSO) at Guru Jambheshwar University in Hisar, police unnecessarily harassed party workers over the breaking of two flower pots. According to him, CIA police teams conducted late-night raids and picked up workers from their homes without proper grounds.
Furthermore, when party leaders and workers voluntarily approached the police to surrender, they were allegedly stopped midway by a black-tinted vehicle with fake number plates and threatened. Chautala expressed surprise that instead of acting on their written complaint, the police are trying to protect the accused personnel, which he said is unacceptable.
On Saturday in Chandigarh, Dushyant Chautala, along with JJP State President Brij Sharma, Youth President Digvijay Chautala and other party leaders, held a press conference to present the entire sequence of events to the public through the media.
The former deputy CM also raised concerns over issues such as multiple student suicide cases at NIT Kurukshetra and alleged irregularities in recruitments at various universities. He stated that JJP and INSO have been actively raising these issues and submitting memorandums to the administration. In the case of Guru Jambheshwar University, he said that after submitting a memorandum, an FIR was registered against eight leaders, including Digvijay Chautala, merely over the breaking of two flower pots.
Chautala claimed that a team of five police personnel, including Inspector Pawan, was following them from the city police station and was also present at the secretariat. He further stated that one of the policemen who obstructed their convoy was also seen at the Hisar SP office.
Accusing the Hisar police of shielding the guilty, Chautala said the police claimed that the personnel were off duty and unarmed while heading to the ADGP office. He questioned this claim, citing video evidence showing that they were carrying weapons. He also raised several questions: If they were off duty, why did they stop the convoy? Why did they flee the scene after the incident? Why were they without identification? And how did they reach the secretariat carrying weapons like AK-47 rifles?
