SONIPAT: Police have booked a lady doctor and two nurses of civil hospital here under Section 304A (causing death due to negligence) following the death of a woman during child delivery. The case was registered on the complaint of victim Shaily's husband, who accused the medical staff of medical negligence.
In his complaint, Sonu Singh, a resident of Malikpur village, said his wife was admitted to the hospital with labour pains on Saturday evening.

She gave birth to a male child by a cesarean section and was shifted in an unconscious condition to a ward and administered medicines there. He alleged that lights went out after sometime and there was no electricity the whole night.
"Shaily was in pain, but the doctor and the staff did not attend to her till power supply was restored. By then, she was dead," he alleged. Police have sent the body to PGIMS, Rohtak, for postmortem.
Civil surgeon Dr Ramesh Sethi said the death was being investigated by a team of three doctors and that preliminary investigations suggest the woman died of cardiac arrest. "The C-section was done at 10 pm on Saturday and Shaily expired on Sunday morning, around 4 am. We are also waiting for the postmortem report to ascertain the exact cause of her death," he said.
The doctor, who has been booked, denied any negligence on her part or that of the staff. "Some complications, like cardiac arrest and entering of child's water in lungs, can develop after operation," she said. She, too, claimed the woman could have died of cardiac arrest.
