Deported youngster's family lodge case against immigration agent
JIND: A few days after kin of Rohit (21) who was deported from US lodged a police complaint in Uchana police station against the agent for allegedly sending him America fraudulently. Getting a formal complaint, Uchana police of Jind district have registered a case against an agent for cheating Rs 10 lakh under the Immigration Act after sending a person to the United States illegally.
Suresh, retired army personnel and a resident of Kharkbhura village, filed a complaint with the police stating that he works on a contract basis in the electricity department. His younger son, Rohit, is a graduate in BA. Rohit had contacted Chaitanya Academy Career in Karnal to pursue an MSc in International Business Management. On January 20, 2024, Rohit was sent to England. Later, in November 2024, Rohit expressed his desire to go to the United States for work. Thereafter ,through his friend, Rohit got in touch with an agent named Arsh Kahlon, a resident of Haryana's Yammuna Nagar district. Upon contact, Arsh Kahlon, claiming to be a registered agent, assured him of sending him to the United States through legal means. For this, a sum of Rs 10 lakh was demanded. On December 21, 2024, the money was handed over to Arsh Kahlon at his office in Yammuna Nagar. Additionally, Rs 2.5 lakh were spent on other expenses, he alleged.
On November 14, 2024, Arsh Kahlon arranged for Rohit to travel from England to the United States, routing him through Spain, the Netherlands, Panama City, Salvador, Guatemala, and finally to Mexico. Rohit traveled by air from England to Salvador, and the rest of the journey was made by car and truck. On January 22, 2025, Rohit reached California in the United States, where US police arrested him for illegal entry. He was then sent to the San Diego Detention Center in California. On February 3, 2025, the US government deported Rohit Sharma back to India, he alleged in his complaint.
