Cop accused of killing dog booked in 1 more case
Chandigarh: Police have booked Haryana sub-inspector Randhir Singh in another case, allegedly assaulting his neighbours and his family members. Earlier, Sector 17 police had arrested Randhir Singh for allegedly killing a stray dog by electrifying his fence and later released him on bail on June 9. Police have sent a report to Haryana Police against the accused for further action.Sector 23 resident Kasturi Lal, the complainant in the dog killing case, had alleged his neighbour Randhir Singh bit his hand and assaulted his wife and son after returning home on June 8. Kasturi Lal said Randhir Singh was apparently drunk and started abusing him. When he objected, he allegedly bit his hand. Residents of the area alleged the cop threatened to kill them with his service pistol and went inside his house to bring the weapon.As Rajeev Kumar, SHO, Sector 17 police station, and other cops reached the spot, Randhir Singh along with his wife locked himself in the house. Police did not use force to bring him out, fearing he might harm himself and others.Kasturi Lal had alleged he found a dead stray dog entangled in wires and fence of the cop’s house on June 4. Kasturi checked the wires with a tester and found it to be live. He found the fence having an electrical wire connected to a socket in Randhir’s house. Randhir had been booked under Sections of Prevention of Cruelty To Animals Act, 1960 and IPC. tnn
