Congress engaging in politics of ‘obstruct, delay and mislead’: Saini
Rohtak: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Congress party and its leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of consistently opposing development initiatives and engaging in politics of "obstruct, delay and mislead".Addressing a press conference here, Saini alleged that whenever the govt introduced schemes aimed at national development, the Congress historically opposed these. He further claimed that the party lacked policy, intent and leadership, contrasting it with the BJP's commitment to women's dignity, rights and leadership. The CM criticised the Congress over the women's reservation bill, stating that by attempting to block the legislation, the party undermined democratic values. He expressed "deep pain", accusing Congress of disrespecting women. What happened in Parliament amounted to an insult to women's dignity, said the CM.Drawing a metaphor from the Mahabharata, he remarked that "modern-day Duryodhana and Dushasana" might try to obstruct the bill, but would not succeed in stopping Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whom the CM likened to Bhishma.Saini alleged that the Congress and the opposition parties were celebrating the obstruction of the bill, calling it an example of their negative and anti-development politics.
He said the opposition fears women's empowerment, as it could weaken their political base.Predicting political outcomes, Saini said the Congress would face a complete rout in the 2029 elections. He accused opposition leaders of frequently targeting the Prime Minister but urged them not to disrespect women in the process.Highlighting the need for electoral reforms, the CM noted that 142 Lok Sabha constituencies now had populations exceeding two million. He stressed the need for delimitation, which could increase the number of Lok Sabha seats to 850.Saini also accused the Congress of misleading the public and spreading misinformation. He claimed that "a truckload of lies" originated from the Congress headquarters in Delhi every morning and spread across the country. He also criticised Rahul Gandhi for carrying the Constitution and alleging that it was under threat. Saini countered that the real threat was to the Congress itself. According to Saini, the Congress party has lost its political ground due to its failure to respect women. The CM further alleged that Congress historically obstructed initiatives aimed at empowering women and questioned why the opposition was afraid of women's reservation. He also claimed that the Congress failed to establish an OBC Commission during its tenure and only made symbolic gestures on the women's reservation without real intent.Saini stated that the opposition's stance had exposed its "anti-women" face. He also accused the opposition of spreading misinformation about the Women's Reservation Act. The Congress is more focused on preserving its political relevance and leadership than addressing public concerns, the CM added. On the implementation of the Women's Reservation Act, Saini clarified that it was initially linked to the census and delimitation processes. However, he said PM Narendra Modi decided to delink it from delimitation to ensure women receive their rightful participation without delay.MSID:: 130371153 413 |
