Amritsar: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday exhorted the electorate to use their “right to vote” to “save the democracy and Constitution”.
“Get ready to save our democracy and Constitution. Get ready to use the right to vote that our freedom fighters earned for us by sacrificing their lives,” Mann said while addressing a rally in support of Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal – the AAP candidate for the Amritsar Lok Sabha seat.
He also held a roadshow at the Raja Sansi, Ajnala, and Majitha assembly constituencies.
Mann said as a minister in the Punjab govt, Dhaliwal freed 10,000 acres of illegally encroached land from the influential people. “He is one of the strongest voices that Punjab has. He will raise Punjab’s issues in Parliament and will get Punjab’s pending funds released,” the CM said while urging the people to elect Dhaliwal as their representative.
Mann also took a dig at the Badals and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and once again recited ‘kikli 2.0’. At the Akali stronghold in Majithia, he urged the people to vote for change.
Addressing the people at Majitha, Dhaliwal accused an Akali leader of hooliganism. “We have to put a stop to the hooliganism of the Akali leaders through our votes. Once such people are defeated and are without power, the people of Amritsar will finally be free from the threat of fake cases,” he said.
Dhaliwal claimed that “dynast” politicians misuse their power and intimidate the common people to get away with anything. But it will not be tolerated anymore, he said, urging the people to throw such people out of power.
