CHANDIGARH: Rates of vegetables are rising continuously in the market. The fluctuation in the rates is because of erratic supply of vegetables.
Traders in the market said buyers kept arguing and bargaining for the rates of vegetables.

Rate of used was priced at Rs 10 per kg and now the rates are hovering around Rs 25 and Rs 30 per kg,” said the traders.
Women maintained that earlier prices of vegetables used to reduce during winters, but the prices have sky-rocketed this year.
Radhika Sharma, a house maker and a resident of Sector 27, said, “We have to spend at least Rs 100 for vegetables in a day.”
She said rise in the prices of every vegetable was upsetting the budget of kitchen. This was a trouble for the middle class families. It was for everyone to shell out this much amount for vegetables every day.
An official of the Punjab Mandi Board said, “The rise in the prices of vegetables is reflecting insufficient supply in the market.”
He said the traders were trying to balance the graph of supply and demand of residents.
Swati Singh, a resident of Sector 7, said, “The administration should pay attention to these basic things as well. The rates of vegetables are burning hole in the pocket of a common man. It has become difficult for us to balance our budget.”
