Cellphone gives vital clues; suicide victim's wife, paramour arrested
PATIALA: A mobile video recording has helped the police crack a 19-day-old mysterious death case of a Rajpura resident. In the self-made mobile video, the man has reportedly alleged that illicit relations of his wife forced him to consume poison to commit suicide.Police in Rajpura city, which recovered the recording two-three days back, had registered an abetment to suicide case under sections 306 and 34 IPC against wife Renu Bala and her alleged paramour Soni Kumar of Vikas Nagar. Police arrested the two on Tuesday morning and are investigating. Deceased Raj Kumar had been staying in a rented portion of a house in Vikas colony of Rajpura town for the last few years. He had consumed poison on February 12 and died on way to hospital. Since police did not have any evidence against anyone at that time, they had registered a case under section 174 of CrPC.During investigations, the minor daughter of the deceased gave vital clues to police about illicit relations of her mother with Sony, their landlord. During a search of his house, police recovered an old mobile phone of the deceased."The mobile had a recording of around a minute in which the deceased had alleged that his wife Renu Bala had illicit relations with their landlord Sony.
In the recording, the deceased can be heard asking his daughter whether Sony still comes to their house in his absence and daughter has been confirming that Sony uncle comes to their house," said SHO, Rajpura city, Bikramjit Brar.It has also come to light that the deceased got to know about the illicit relations of his wife some months back. Since then, he was trying to convince his wife to end it."Some neighbours had disclosed that Renu Bala was unwilling to listen to the requests of the deceased. When all his requests failed, he committed suicide," said the SHO.
