GBC and Chitkara Educational Trust announced their tie up to provide courses for Indian students in 'affordable' prices.
CHANDIGARH: Canada's George Brown College (GBC) and Chitkara Educational Trust on Friday announced their tie up to provide courses for Indian students in 'affordable' prices. The first programme of the join venture would be a diploma in Computer Systems Technology from GBC and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Applications from an accredited Indian university.
Joy Mckinnon, GBC vice president, international and applied research, said that this is the first collaboration of the College with any Indian institute and the reason for selecting Chitkara as their associate is for its location. According to her a large number of Punjabis are already there in Toronto and out of the 1,400 international students in GBC, 200 are Indians, mostly from North India.
Under this programme students will study for two years at Chitkara and complete their final year at GBC in Toronto, Canada. Students, who qualify will also have an option of joining a one-year post graduation work program. The fee for the course is Rs 50,000 per year for two years in India and 10,000 dollars for one year in Canada.
