GURDASPUR: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was injured while attempting to detonate a hidden Improvised Explosive Device (IED), believed to have been planted by cross-border terrorists. The IED was likely intended to target BSF personnel and farmers who cross the border fence to tend to their fields. BSF Deputy Inspector General AK Vidyarthi informed that the incident occurred around 1 am on Wednesday, when a BSF patrol was on duty ahead of the border security fence in the area under the jurisdiction of the Dorangla police station in Gurdaspur district. During the patrol, BSF troops discovered suspicious items and identified one as an IED. Preliminary investigations suggest the device was meant to target security forces and farmers. Further inspection revealed a network of concealed wires in the fields, confirming the presence of multiple IEDs near the BSF’s Chautra Border Out Post.
