REWARI: The body of Anshu, a youth from Kathuwas village in Rewari who was killed in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, reached his home on Friday, nearly six months after his death. His elder brother, Mohit, performing the last rites.
Anshu had gone to Russia to pursue an MBA but later joined the Russian Army in Aug 2024. He was killed on Oct 14, 2025, while fighting in Ukraine. He is among 26 Indian youths reported missing after joining Russian forces, including seven from Haryana.
He last spoke to his family on August 18, telling his father he was "trapped" and might not be able to communicate for months. The family was later informed of his death.
The Indian embassy on April 4 informed the family that his body had been located and would be repatriated. It arrived in Delhi on Friday morning, following which the family brought it to the village for cremation.
Anshu, the youngest of three siblings, had lost his mother earlier.
Officials said over 100 Indian youths were recruited by Russian forces in 2024, with several still missing.
