Haryana polls: With Jindal & Bishnoi families in ticket mix, problem of plenty for BJP in Hisar

The BJP is facing a dilemma over candidate selection for six out ... Read More
HISAR: With new leaders joining BJP, there is confusion over who the party will field from six of the seven assembly seats which fall under Hisar district. In Nalwa constituency, new entrant Kuldeep Bishnoi is a contender, while the BJP already has an MLA from the seat — deputy speaker Ranbir Gangwa. Bishnoi was earlier in the Congress.

In Hisar seat, former minister Savitri Jindal, mother of BJP Kurukshetra MP Naveen Jindal, is the latest contender for the party ticket, even as BJP has health minister Dr Kamal Gupta.

BJP sources said Bishnoi has staked claim on Adampur, Nalwa and Hansi seats. He is demanding Adampur for son and present MLA Bhavya Bishnoi and Nalwa seat for aide Randhir Panihar. In the last assembly elections, Bishnoi managed to get a ticket for Panihar from the Congress. He is also staking claim on Hansi for wife Renuka Bishnoi, who has served as MLA from the seat in the past. Hansi MLA Vinod Bhyana is not opposing their candidature as BJP has given him relief in many cases.

There is talk of BJP now fielding Gangwa from Barwala constituency, where many BJP leaders are already in the line. Former finance minister Captain Abhimanyu is also said to be interested in contesting elections from Barwala, instead of Narnaund assembly seat.

In such a situation, a conflict has started between the old BJP leader and Gangwa, who came to BJP from INLD. If the party makes Captain Abhimanyu the candidate from Barwala, Gangwa will have to wait. There is also talk of Uklana MLA Anoop Dhanak, who served as a minister in BJP-JJP govt, joining BJP and contesting the election from the same seat. There are also reports that Naveen Jindal’s wife, Shalu Jindal, is staking claim to the Hisar seat.
