BFUHS is controlling authority for pharmacy, healthcare courses in Punjab
Bathinda: Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, has been designated as the controlling authority for pharmacy and healthcare courses in Punjab. These courses were earlier under the control of the department of technical education and industrial training. As per a recent order issued by the director, technical education and industrial training, all health-related courses have been transferred to the BFUHS. Earlier, these courses were managed by Inder Kumar Gujral Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala, and Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda, under the technical education department.
Prof Rajeev Sood, vice-chancellor, BFUHS, said, as per the university statutes, all health-related courses were legally meant to be conducted under the BFUHS. After continuous efforts and several meetings over the last two years, this objective was finally achieved. The VC said there was significant improvement in infrastructure development, recruitment of qualified manpower, and strengthening of super-speciality services. Several posts that remained vacant for many years were filled in the university, he added.Prof Sood further said the university was expanding its nursing education sector, with several govt nursing colleges already operational, while more institutions were in the pipeline. He also mentioned that civil hospitals at Badal village in Muktsar, Khadoor Sahib in Tarn Taran district, and the community health centre in Jalalabad, as well as the tertiary care centre in Fazilka, had already been handed over to the BFUHS.The VC emphasised that bringing healthcare education, training, and skill development under one umbrella would ensure better governance, quality education, and improved outcomes.MSID:: 128259502 413 |Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with Valentine's day wishes, messages and gift idea !
