BDPO caught red-handed taking Rs 5L bribe
Jind: An anti-corruption bureau team on Friday claimed to have arrested a block development and panchayat officer (BDPO) red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh, in Kaithal district.The ACB team stated that the BDPO was arrested on the complaint of Sandeep from Badsui village.Sandeep alleged that despite a stay order from the civil court and the commissioner court against the decision of the SDM court, BDPO Jagjit Singh was pressuring him to demolish his house.After receiving the demolition notice, "I spoke to Guhla BDPO Jagjit Singh over the phone. He demanded Rs 5 lakh in exchange for not demolishing the house. I recorded the conversation and submitted it to the anti-corruption bureau", he added.Acting on the complaint, the ACB team arrested the BDPO from his office while he was taking the bribe. Jagjit Singh will be presented in court on Saturday, said an ACB official.ACB inspector Sube Singh said following Sandeep's complaint and the audio evidence presented by him, they set a trap and arrested the accused officer while accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh in the presence of irrigation department XEN Gurvinder Singh, who was appointed as the duty magistrate.
