CHANDIGARH: Having busted an inter-state weapons smuggling module operating from Madhya Pradesh (MP), Punjab Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested an arms manufacturer from Kazalpura village in the central state’s Khargone district.

The operation was carried out with the help of Madhya Pradesh Police. Punjab director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said Sonu Singh of Signoor village in Khargone, had been operating a small manufacturing unit of arms and was supplying the weapons in north Indian states. The Police have seized 25 weapons, including 24 pistols and one revolver, from his possession. The number of weapons seized after the bust total 80.

Punjab Police on Friday had arrested two persons, Madhya Pradesh residents Bhorelal alias Manish Bade and Kailash Mal Singh, for being behoind in large-scale illegal manufacturing and supply of weapons from MP into Punjab.

The DGP said that on the basis of a preliminary probe, police teams also arrested the arms manufacturer from Kazalpura, after recovering eight pistols from his possession. On the disclosure of Sonu Singh, the police teams further recovered a chunk of 16 pistols and one revolver from the location pinpointed by him near Umarati village in Badwani in MP.
